On a recent trip to Singapore, I opted to stay at the Harbour Ville Hotel Hamilton located in the Lavender neighborhood. As a budget-conscious traveler, I was pleased with the affordable rates and proximity to public transit. Here is my full review of the pros and cons from my time staying at Harbour Ville Hotel Hamilton.
Convenient Location
One major pro of Harbour Ville Hotel is its close proximity to both Lavender MRT station and Kallang Wave Mall. I could easily walk to either within 5 minutes. From Lavender station, it was just two quick stops to hit Orchard Road and the downtown.
The hotel’s location right off Serangoon Road placed me steps from restaurants, shops, cafes and bars around Jalan Besar Stadium. Walkability was excellent.
Comfortable Budget Rooms
As an affordable hotel, the basic guest rooms were decently comfortable. While not luxurious, my room did have handy amenities like a mini-fridge, electric kettle, safe, hairdryer and WiFi.
I appreciated little touches like the cable TV channels, blackout curtains and comfortable mattresses – great for the price I paid. However, rooms could use some updating.
Hearty Free Breakfasts
One major perk was the complimentary breakfast buffet each morning. There was a generous spread of both Asian and Western hot dishes, cereals, pastries, juices and coffee to fuel up for the day. I was always stuffed!
Mixed Experience with Staff
My interactions with hotel staff were hit or miss. Some went the extra mile, but other times I had to wait around for basic assistance. For a 3-star hotel, I hoped for more consistent and attentive service.
Great Value Overall
Considering the reasonable nightly rates I paid at Harbour Ville Hotel Hamilton, I was very satisfied with what I got. The location allowed me easy access to explore many parts of Singapore. Rooms were comfortable enough with handy amenities. And the free breakfast saved me money and time each morning.
While not a 5-star luxury option, Harbour Ville Hotel Hamilton offers solid value accommodations in a neighborhood near downtown with lots of local flavor. I’d recommend it to other budget-minded travelers.
